Characteristics: Cold and aloof, Thalaneau has a bit of a reputation for being cunning and manipulative as well, to those with only a passing familiarity with him. Though quiet, he is stern and driven, and has a tendency to force his way, if guile won't suffice.Hooks:
Scholar: Graduate of the Studium, in Sharlayan, and gifted in various magics, nothing quite engages him like long discussions of the various facets of aetherology. Though other, darker, more esoteric subjects and phenomena also pique his interest.Academic: Detached personality aside, Thalaneau does have a soft spot for teaching, trying to afford others opportunities he may have missed out on in his youth.Alchemy: Having lived in Ul'dah for some years, Thalaneau has become a skilled alchemist... if leaning a bit on the explosive side of the craft.Ancient Magic: While interested in magics of all sorts, few things get him more excited than the study of Allagan relics. Except perhaps Mhachi sorcery. Surreptitious delving into the ruins of either civilization being one of the few things that can lure him from his library lair.
Backstory
Born the son of bandits, near Quarrymill in the southern parts of the Black Shroud, Thalaneau had tried to better himself. Gifted in magic, he had been accepted into the Conjurer's guild at a prodigiously young age, and mastered the basics relatively swiftly.No matter how skilled he became though, he couldn't quite escape the scorn and derision, both of what he parents had been, and what others assumed he must be. As he neared adulthood, he left Gridania behind, traveling to Ul'dah, becoming first a thaumaturge, then a Black Mage.Seeking ever darker knowledge, eventually his search led him to Sharlayan. However, after a promising academic stint and graduation from the Studium, he abruptly left the island and returned to Ul'dah. Shortly afterwards, he opened the Tousserre Athenaeum, a modest bookshop and library... Though there are baseless rumors of something sinister going on behind the curtain of the quaint shop.

-I'm a bit of a reflective RPer, and will tend to match your tone and post length. All styles except one word responses are welcome.- An RP style of long term and narrative driven is preferred. But, short term and one shot RP is still welcomed.- Mature RP and shenanigans are ok, just don't be rude, and don't be weird about it. In light of that, or other things that may come up, ranging from alcohol to darker themes, I ask that players and characters both be over 21.- RP over Discord ( Auberon) preferred. In-game is also ok, I'm just hard to schedule around, sometimes.
